Seattle Area
Private Pilot Missions
Pier Glass Aviation

Minimum License Requirement: Private Pilot

Aircraft Available: A Private Pilot must fly the company Cessna 172 on these charters. All other pilots may fly any plane within the constraints of their rank and the Ops Manual.

Argument Rating: Unless specifically stated in the charter description the charter argument is rated Very Strong for any pilot in PGA. It succeeds on a roll of 2 or above. Experienced pilots may adjust the circumstances and rate it according to the rules given in the Ops Manual.

Weather: The weather is given in two forms in the Charter Description. The first is individual weather setting parameters. This can be used to set the weather up in any flight simulator. The second is Weather Theme. Microsoft Flight Simulator 9 uses this. If you have that simulator, feel free to just click on the given Weather Theme. It sets all the parameters with one click.

Intsructions: These charters are designed to be flown in order, from SPPL01 to SPPL25. If you are a Private Pilot just starting out in PGA. then you must fly all of these charters in numerical order or the BPPL charters to be promoted to Commercial Pilot.

Good morning, I'm Herbert. You the first one here? Good, been waiting for someone to show up. I need you to load those boxes out there by the hanger into your plane. They are nice, new, refurbished, barely used, Pentium II laptops she found on eBay. That's right, the Boss has spared no expense for her dispatchers, so be careful with them, ok? Now fly down to Olympia and drop the box with Barney's name on it. You'll like Barney. He has lots of great stories.

Note: This charter is company business and so only pays the $5/nm rate. No double payment is allowed, either.

MISSION#: SPPL02 DEPART: Olympia Municipal (KOLM) ARRIVE: Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) TIME: Afternoon
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 30 nm WIND SPEED: Light
WIND DIRECTION: 360º RATE/MILE: $5 DISTANCE: 22 nm PAYMENT: $110
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
PROFILE:
How ya doin'? Nice to meet you. Herbert called to say you were on your way down here. Made good time, too. Those controllers at SEA-TAC give you any problem? Oh. Well, you made it, anyway. Yeah, just put that box over there next to the desk. I'll have to get that 16 year old kid that hangs around here to put it together for me. Reminds me of myself at about his age, hangar rat, ended up as a wing-walker with a flying circus. It was back in.................

Hey you! Wake up! Yeah, well I understand you probably didn't get much sleep last night. Fly on up to Tacoma Narrows and drop off the box with Diane's name on it. She's expecting you, so she’ll probably have cookies and milk all ready. Diane is a sweetheart, but don't cross her. She's a better pilot than most I've met, and I've met a few in my time. In fact, there was this one girl back in... Ok, I know you gotta get goin'…

Note: This charter is company business and so only pays the $5/nm rate. No double payment is allowed, either.

MISSION#: SPPL03 DEPART: Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) ARRIVE: Snonomish County (KPAE) TIME: Dusk
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 30 nm WIND SPEED: Light
WIND DIRECTION: 360º RATE/MILE: $5 DISTANCE: 40 nm PAYMENT: $200
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
PROFILE:
Well, hello there dear. Cookies are on the counter and cold milk in the refrigerator. How was your flight up? Oh good, just put the box over in the corner and I will set it up later. No, I don't need any help with it but thank you for offering. How is old Barney these days? Told you some of his stories, did he? The "ran away to become a wing-walker" one? Yes I've heard it a million times. It's never the same twice. Wait till you hear the one about when he crashed in the Amazon Jungle....!

So are you going to stick around for dinner or are you heading right out? Ok, well next time you're here plan on having dinner. Fly the last of those boxes up to Paine Field and drop them off with Walter, he's our dispatcher there. Walter is well.... Walter could be best described as... Oh, well, I guess you will just have to meet him. Clear Skies!

Note: This charter is company business and so only pays the $5/nm rate. No double payment is allowed, either.

MISSION#: SPPL04 DEPART: Snonomish County (KPAE) ARRIVE: Boeing Field (KBFI) TIME: Night
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 20 nm WIND SPEED: Light

FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
PROFILE:
Ok, so you're here. What, do you want? A medal or something? Just throw that stupid box behind the desk. I don't care, probably won't work anyway, stupid computers. So welcome to the office of the dispatcher in the most glorious backwater of Washington State. No better place to be, I'm sure. I might even get to send a duck to fly somewhere now and again to drop a load.

Speaking of … take all these PGA and old BAC records here back to Boeing. Then if I was you, I'd call it a day. Now scram I've got real work to do.

Note: This charter is company business and so only pays the $5/nm rate. No double payment is allowed, either.

MISSION#: SPPL05 DEPART: Boeing Field (KBFI) ARRIVE: Easton State (KESW) TIME: Morning

PROFILE:
Good morning, glad you got back ok. Nice weather today. But, this is Seattle so don’t expect it to last. Walter, yes well, he isn't the easiest person to get along with. He does know his job though.

Well, here's something for you this morning. Fly these boxes of supplies over to the logging company at Easton State. Yeah, I know it's a lot but they are kinda out there in the sticks and there isn't a supermarket anywhere close. They don't get much company out that way so will probably want to talk your ear off. Give me a call after you get there and I will see if something else turns up.

Note: Because you will be landing at a dirt airfield, the Argument Strength for this charter is reduced by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. If you are any other rank the Argument Strength remains at Very Strong.

MISSION#: SPPL06 DEPART: Easton State (KESW) ARRIVE: R&K Skyranch (8W9) TIME: Afternoon

PGA Dispatch, Boeing Field, this is Herbert. Oh hello there. Your flight go OK? Good, yeah, I know took you awhile to get a chance to call. I did warn you. I've got a call here from Barney, he asked me to have you to fly down to R&K Skyranch and pick up a shipment of electronic parts. No, I don't know where they are going. Call Barney when you get there and he will tell you what he wants. I know he's a talker, it took me 30 minutes to get off the phone with him. Yeah, the wing-walking story again. Oops, there's the other line, I have to go. Have a good flight.

Note: Because you will be landing at a dirt airfield, the Argument Strength for this charter is reduced by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. If you are any other rank the Argument Strength remains at Very Strong.

Also Note: This charter is a dead head flight. As such it only pays the $5/nm rate and no double payment is allowed.

FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Gray and Rainy
PROFILE:
Yeah, this is Barney. Oh good, you're there. Take those cartons of electronic parts over to Sanderson (KSHN) and deliver them to Fly-Rite Games Inc. Yeah, I think they make flight controllers or something, but I'm not sure. Anyway, they should have some of their finished product crated up for you to take on to Bremerton National from there. When you get to Bremerton, give Diane a call, she might have something for you. You know, back when I was about sixteen I was getting ready to go up on the wing with that old.... OK, OK, I know, the weathers turning and you need to get goin'. Have a good flight!

MISSION#: SPPL08 DEPART: Bremerton National (KPWT) ARRIVE: Fairchild Int. (KCLM) TIME: Dawn

Hello, Yes, this is Diane. Oh, hello! Hang on a moment, yes I do have something for you here... Yes, here it is, there are some spare aircraft parts that need to get up to Port Angeles. But you know, the weather is really turning tonight and you sound tired. You've been going all day haven't you? This can wait until tomorrow morning. You just rest up there tonight, get a good breakfast tomorrow morning then take those parts on to Port Angels. Oh no, don't worry about the Boss, I will tell her you had some maintenance to do on the plane.

MISSION#: SPPL09 DEPART: Fairchild Int. (KCLM) ARRIVE: Renton Municipal (KRNT) TIME: Morning
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 30 nm WIND SPEED: Light

FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
PROFILE:
Yeah, this is Walter. You! I thought you were supposed to be there and call last night! Maintenance my foot. That Diane probably cooked up that story so one of her pet pilots wouldn't have to fly in anything less than CAVU. No I'm not going to call Diane, I know better. Well at least you're there now, don't be late again. Load up with those crates of fresh fish and fly them into Renton where somebody from the "See Food Diet" restaurant will pick them up. Do they smell? Oh no, these are scentless fish, you know, the kind they grind up and use as airplane deodorizers. Of course I'm not serious! Now get moving!

MISSION#: SPPL10 DEPART: Renton Municipal (KRNT) ARRIVE: McChord AFB (KTCM) TIME: Afternoon
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 30 nm WIND SPEED: Light

FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
PROFILE:
Herbert speaking. Oh yeah, glad you called. There are some F-15 parts there that need to get down to McChord AFB. The Air Force needs them ASAP and they are paying extra so they don't have to send a plane to Renton to pick them up. No, they aren’t paying extra to you, just the company. No you don't have time to deodorize your plane. Well I'm sorry; you will just have to live with it for now. I know, I know, I think Walter enjoys it too.

MISSION#: SPPL11 DEPART: McChord AFB (KTCM) ARRIVE: Boeing Field (KBFI) TIME: Dusk
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 20 nm WIND SPEED: Light
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
WIND DIRECTION: 180º RATE/MILE: $10 DISTANCE: 20 nm PAYMENT: $200
PROFILE:
Good evening, this is Barney. Oh hello! How are you? Really? Does it smell that bad? I see. Well, if you think that's bad, back when I was in... what's that? Oh, yes, I need you to pick up a Lt. Cavendish there at McChord and get him to Boeing Field.... yes, I know your not, but he's a CFI so it's OK. Anyway, he's headed home on emergency leave so get going. Once you drop him off, you can call it a day.

Note: Since you are hauling a person on this trip the Argument Strength is lowered by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. If you are any other rank the Argument Strength remains at Very Strong.

MISSION#: SPPL12 DEPART: Boeing Field (KBFI) ARRIVE: Coupeville NOLF (KNRA) TIME: Morning

PROFILE:
Good morning! Finally got the plane all cleaned up? Good, but I'm sorry to hear you were all night at it. No, I don't imagine the Lieutenant was very happy. Well, if I hear anything about it from the Boss I will try to explain it to her, but she knows how it can be, she flew for BAC back in the old days, you know. Well, let me see, today you are flying a load of shoes... what's that? Oh, come on, do I look like Walter? Of course the shoes are new. You need to fly them up to Coupeville NOLF where someone from the "Toe the Line" shoe store will pick them up. Walter has left a message for the next pilot up there to give him a call. Yeah, can only hope that it's nothing that is or ever was alive, but you know Walter...

MISSION#: SPPL13 DEPART: Coupeville NOLF (KNRA) ARRIVE: Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) TIME: Afternoon
CLOUDS: Few PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 10 nm WIND SPEED: Light
WIND DIRECTION: 315º RATE/MILE: $10 DISTANCE: 56 nm PAYMENT: $560
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Fair Weather
PROFILE:
Oh, you again. You know, I really don't care how long it took you to clean the plane. That's what you get paid for. Me, I just get paid making sure you idiot pilots get things to where they're supposed to go. Speaking of which, there are four cages of white rats that need to get Tacoma Narrows and.... What? Oh, I see. Well, do you want to call the Boss and tell her you won't go or shall I? I thought as much. Now get moving.

MISSION#: SPPL14 DEPART: Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) ARRIVE: Bergseth Field (WN76) TIME: Dusk

Hello! It's so good to see you again, oh! Look at the adorable little mice! Oh, that Walter. Yes, I think he goes out of his way to book jobs like that. Don't let him get to you, here, have a cookie, baked fresh this morning.

All right, here's an easy one for you. There's a load of supplies that needs to get over to some scientists out at Bergseth Field. But before you go you are going to sit down and have a good dinner, no arguments now!

What? Which plane? Oh, that yellow biplane out there? It's a 1943 Boeing Stearman A75, with the Pratt & Whitney 450 on the front. Oh yes, I know the owner quite well. Now where did I put my apron...

Note: Because you will be landing at a dirt airfield, the Argument Strength for this charter is reduced by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. If you are any other rank the Argument Strength remains at Very Strong.

MISSION#: SPPL15 DEPART: Bergseth Field (WN76) ARRIVE: Boeing Field (KBFI) TIME: Night

Hello? Oh hi, dear. What’s that? Oh, I see. Well yes, if the scientist wants to go to Boeing Field then I guess you’ll have to take him. I know, I know, you aren’t supposed to, but… we’ll call it a training flight. You are training for your CPL aren’t you? Just act like you know what you're doing and you'll be fine.

Note: Since you are hauling a person on this trip the Argument Strength is lowered by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. If you are any other rank the Argument Strength remains at Very Strong.

MISSION#: SPPL16 DEPART: Boeing Field (KBFI) ARRIVE: Whidbey Island NAS (KNUW) TIME: Dawn

Good morning. The weather seems to have taken a turn for the worse today hasn’t it? Oh well, that doesn’t stop us from flying here at PGA. Better get used to it.

Here’s what I have for your first run today. Load up those three crates of special 3 ply toilet paper over there and fly them up to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. Yes, I said 3 ply toilet paper. Super soft. Nothing is too good for our boys in uniform! Call Walter when you get there.

MISSION#: SPPL17 DEPART: Whidbey Island NAS (KNUW) ARRIVE: Renton Municipal (KRNT) TIME: Morning
CLOUDS: Overcast PRECIPITATION: Medium VISIBILITY: 5 nm WIND SPEED: Light
WIND DIRECTION: 330º RATE/MILE: $10 DISTANCE: 55 nm PAYMENT: $550
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Gray and Rainy
PROFILE:
Yeah, this is Walter, what do you want? Oh it’s you again. Yippee. May day is made now. You get that toilet paper delivered? Did it get wet? It better not have gotten wet. I know I hate wet toilet paper, and I imagine those Navy pukes do too.

Yeah, yeah, I got something for you. Don’t get your knickers in a bundle. Ah here it is. There should be two crates of old aircraft parts there. The Navy wants them returned to the Boeing plant at Renton. … I hear they are defective doohickies….Yes, I imagine they are a bit grimy… Well how the heck am I supposed to know if they smell or not?

MISSION#: SPPL18 DEPART: Renton Municipal (KRNT) ARRIVE: Whidbey Airpark (W10) TIME: Afternoon

PROFILE:
PGA Seattle, Herbert here. Oh, glad you called in. I have one for you here. The Washburns have just returned from a vacation in Europe. I need you to fly over to SeaTac International (KSEA), pick up their two teacup poodles, and fly them on up to Whidbey Air Park where their driver will meet you. I understand the dogs are very well behaved and friendly but do tend to bark at their own shadows. You might want to make sure you have your good noise-canceling headset with you. No, not that kind of noise cancellation. The Boss won't be happy if you lose the Washburns' business, so you take good care of those pooches.

Note: The first leg of this charter is a dead head flight. As such it only pays the $5/nm rate and no double payment is allowed. The second leg is a full charter and may be flown at the standard rate.

MISSION#: SPPL19 DEPART: Whidbey Airpark (W10) ARRIVE: Apex Airpark (WA05) TIME: Dusk
CLOUDS: Overcast PRECIPITATION: Medium VISIBILITY: 5 nm WIND SPEED: Light

FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Gray and Rainy
PROFILE:
Yeah, this is Walter. Oh, you. Twice in one day. What did I do wrong?… Dogs, huh?... They did, huh?... Oooh that’s too bad, but I'll tell you what to do. Take a quarter out of petty cash and call someone who cares.

Now listen up, because here's your charter and its ... No, it's not rats, fish, dogs, cats or anything like that. Don't get your knickers in a knot. It's mushrooms. Yes, mushrooms. Drop two crates off at Sequim Valley (W28) and... Don't be funny, of course you have to land! The other two go to Apex Air Park. A representative from "The Fungus Amungus" restaurant chain will meet you at each destination. I'm sure the mushrooms wouldn't mind the smell, but the guys picking them up might, and the Boss is cracking down on smelly planes, so you'd better clean up your plane first.

MISSION#: SPPL20 DEPART: Apex Airpark (WA05) ARRIVE: Swanson (2W3) TIME: Afternoon
CLOUDS: Scattered PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 10 nm WIND SPEED: Light
WIND DIRECTION: 45º RATE/MILE: $10 DISTANCE: 51 nm PAYMENT: $510
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Fair Weather
PROFILE:
This is Herbert... Hi, have a good night? I know the accommodations at Apex aren't all that great.... Slept in the plane did you? Oh, that's right, payday is late again. Sorry about that, but sometimes things like that happen.

Here's one for you. These are some rare books that need to get from Apex to Swanson. Yes, I'm told they are quite valuable... in fact, if anything were to happen to them I would just disappear off the face of the earth if I were you. Yes, I know they are very small, that's what makes them worth more than you, the plane and maybe all of PGA so be very, very careful. A Mrs. Witherwood will meet you at Swanson. Make sure you ask for a picture ID before you turn the books over! We are being paid well for this one so don't mess up. I probably should wait for a more experienced pilot for these but, well, I like you and I know you can use the money.

MISSION#: BPPL21 DEPART: Swanson (2W3) ARRIVE: Skynomish State (S88) TIME: Dusk
CLOUDS: Few PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 20 nm WIND SPEED: Light

Hello, Barney here. Hey, good thing you called! I need you to pick up a Mr. Swanson and... He's an ATP and I'm pretty sure he's got his CFI so it should be fine... He may, well, he may have been drinking a bit, so don't get ramp checked! Just put him in the back and cover him with a blanket and nobody will know him from any other cargo. … No, I don't think he's related but you never know. Reminds me of the time I had two Air Force Generals both drunk as skunks that I needed to fly out to March AFB in California and they.... Oh sorry, maybe next time. Have a good flight and hopefully he won't snore much.

Note: Because you will be landing at a dirt airfield, the Argument Strength for this charter is reduced by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. In addition you are hauling a person so the argument is further reduced to (total of 2) to Average. You may reroll the argument if you fail, but you must reduce it by one for each time you fail. If the Argument Strength gets reduced to Stupid, you may not fly this charter. Just deadhead back to Boeing Field (KBFI) (Distance 40 nm @ $5/nm rate = $200).Jump to charter SPPL23 and proceed from there. If you are any other rank rate this argument according to the rules given in the Oops Manual.

MISSION#: SPPL22 DEPART: Skynomish State (S88) ARRIVE: Boeing Field (KBFI) TIME: Night

Hi, this is Herbert. I'm really sorry to wake you in the middle of the night like this but I just got an emergency call and you are the only pilot available at the moment. I know you had a long day but it's just about to get longer. This is a medevac.... I know you aren't allowed to haul passengers as a Private Pilot, but this is an emergency and there is no one else to do it. The Boss says you fly and leave her to deal with the FAA. Now get out to your plane, an ambulance will be bringing a guy who needs to get to Renton like yesterday. No, There is nobody else even close. Hey, a pilot's gotta do what a pilot's gotta do. Nobody said this was going to be all fish and shrimp ya know. Now get going and call me when you get to Renton.

Note: Since you are hauling a person on this trip the Argument Strength is lowered by 1 to Strong if you are a Private Pilot. If you are any other rank the Argument Strength remains at Very Strong.

MISSION#: SPPL23 DEPART: Boeing Field (KBFI) ARRIVE: Boeing Field (KBFI) TIME: Morning

Good morning. Nice job last night. I hear the guy is going to be all right. But now I need you to hurry up and finish your coffee because I have a charter that needs to be flown right away.

This is sorta complex, so listen up. The folks up at Harvey (S43) lost their generator last night and they need a replacement. It is being delivered right now. Load it up in your plane and fly it up to them.

Once you delivered the generator, hop up to Arlington Municipal (KAWO) and pick up a load of frozen elk meat. Fly that back down to here where it will be picked up by the “We’re Game Restaurant.”

Note: One leg of this charter is a dead head flight. As such it only pays the $5/nm rate and no double payment is allowed. The other legs are full charter and may be flown at the standard rate.

MISSION#: SPPL24 DEPART: Boeing Field (KBFI) ARRIVE: Pierce County (1S0) TIME: Afternoon

Well, it looks like it’s your lucky day. The Boss thinks you are ready for your Commercial Pilot’s license. But first you have to pass your check ride. Go outside to the Piper Arrow parked out there. Your check ride instructor will be waiting. Fly him down to Pierce County – Thunder Field. Once you are there, enter the pattern and make five touch and goes. After that land. Your evaluator will tell you what to do next.

Note: This charter is company business and so only pays the $5/nm rate. No double payment is allowed, either.

MISSION#: SPPL25 DEPART: Pierce County (1S0) ARRIVE: ? TIME: Afternoon
CLOUDS: Clear PRECIPITATION: None VISIBILITY: 30 nm WIND SPEED: Light
WIND DIRECTION: 360º RATE/MILE: $5 DISTANCE: 135 nm PAYMENT: $675
FS9 WEATHER TEMPLATE: Clear Skies
PROFILE:
This is the navigation part of your check ride.

Takeoff from 1S0. Fly a heading of 301 degrees for 30 nm, this is Turn Point 1.

From Turn Point 1 fly a heading of 344 degrees for 52 nm this is Turning Point 2.

From Turn Point 2 fly a heading of 130 degrees for 15 nm this is your Destination.

Remember the headings are "true" and you will have to allow for a northerly wind of 5-10 knots. You will need to plot the flying time between each leg. Note the prominent landmark or airfield at each Turning Point and your final destination. Submit this information to your Supervisor. DO NOT POST IT ON THE FORUM!!!!

If you navigated correctly and got all the Turn Points correct and ended up at the correct airport, then you can deadhead back to Boeing Field (KBFI) to be promoted to Commercial Pilot by the Boss and get issued your Leatherhombre. Congratulations!

If you messed up somehow, then deadhead back to Pierce County (1S0) and give it another shot.

Note: You only get paid for the mileage if you successfully complete the check ride. You log the hours for all your attempts, but gain cash only for correctly navigating the ride.

Also note: This charter is company business and so only pays the $5/nm rate. No double payment is allowed, either.
