How to Post a PIREP

Once you have flown your charter it's time to record the results for the enlightenment and entertainment of the rest of us. You must file a PIREP for the flight to count towards your advancement.

This is important!

The public posting of PIREPS is how you tell the rest of us what you are doing. The forum is read through every day. Every so often, a newsletter will ensue based on the goings-on on the forum. Interesting PIREPS and adventures always have a shot at making it into the newsletter, and so passing into PGA's recorded history. So you're encouraged to be creative.

Post your PIREP on the PGA Forum under the same thread where you posted the Charter Argument for the charter

Like Charter Arguments, PIREPS can be filed with just the bare bones information included:

SJC SFO SAC Cessna 172 N172N 1.6 hours 95nm $10 $950 $1900

This tells everyone that you flew from San Jose International to San Francisco International then on to Sacramento Executive. You flew in a personal Cessna 172. The flight took you 1.6 hours of flying time for a total distance of 95 nautical miles. You charged $10 a mile which earns $950. Since you used your own plane you actually earned double that, $1,900.

Again, however, this is just the very basic information required in a PIREP. A better way of conveying the information above is in a narrative format. Tell the story of your flight to us. Draw us into your own little world and entertain or amuse us.

I know some people are nervous about writing comments or narrative accounts of their adventures. Don't be. No one is going to laugh or poke fun at your writing, even if you don't speak (write) English very well. In fact the opposite will happen. We will laugh at your jokes and applaud your efforts.

The more work you put into PGA, the more fun you will get out of it. Your pilot character (alter-ego) becomes more and more defined, and you will look forward to his (or her) further adventures yourself. Believe me. Your adventures become part and fabric to our virtual reality. The more detail you add, the better our reality becomes.
