Did you ever have one of those days...the kind that makes you wonder if you're losing your mind? If I lost my mind today, I would never find it again. Here's how it all started...

"Cherry, have you seen my..." (This is how every morning starts with Mac, and I always have an answer for him. Yes, I've seen his keys...his tools...his socks. But, not today.)

Today started out normal enough. I woke up at the normal time, but something happened between waking up and everything else. The first sign that there was a problem were the keys. I always put them in a certain spot. I never lose my keys. Just the same, guess who spent 15 minutes this morning trying to reconcile how the keys could have jumped from their normal resting spot to...? Next, I must have gone out the door three times and come back in only to remember something else I needed to have with me. And, weren't there two Elbonians? (sigh)

So far, my top three explanations are these: 1) My mind wandered off some where to enjoy the view...it will return, I'm just not sure when. 2) Aliens. Every good conspiracy theory needs aliens. 3)
See what I mean? Anyone have any other theories?

I have a theory - The More you need something the less likely you'll find it where it is supposed to be theory. :whack:

corillary: And the more urgently you need it the more obvious it will be but still unfindable.

another corillary: When you aren't looking for something that was desparetely needed - and for which you've already (bought, found, used) an alternative then you will find the missing item.

A case in point: I made a set of backets out of oak about 10 years ago for the drapes in our parlor. I remember vividly the excrutiating pain as one of them got away from me while routing it - and subsequently losing a chunk of a finger. When I was done (and after recovering) I put the brackets in a bag and put them in a safe place. 10 years later (this Christmas) We finally bought the drapes and for two weeks I searched my workshop and the house for those expensive brackets. Finally we deicded to buy store brackets. <sigh>.

TWO days later my wife found them in one of the rooms I had ALREADY searched three times. :grr:

Did you look behind the fridge? When you lose something it's almost always behind the fridge :)
