Hello PGA family -
I am writing to you today from the George Washington. I never realized how big a carrier is. I know it's been a while, but they've been flying my butt off since I got here. I've learned to land on the small boys - destroyers and such. I've learned how to land at various stations aboard ship so I don't get splattered with F-14s taking off on the cat(apult). I've learned departure and arrival proceedures - including my favorite - entitled "Perch Port" where I hover along the port side of the ship.
After many hours of flight I've finally passed my Deck Landing Qualifications. So I am now carrier qualified. Woo Hoo!!!
I must say though, that these guys are scared ****less of us rotorheads. They don't like us around much - except, I hear, when they go feet wet literally - and then we're gods to them... well I haven't pulled anyone out of the drink yet but I have a feeling that day will come all too soon. I'm being transferred tomorrow to Mobile Bay to work with the Coast Guard for a couple of days, so I thought I'd write while I could.
Hope things are well for PGA - safe flying buddies!
