Anyway his plane has some problem or other and he needs to get to San Jose. I know you aren’t supposed to carry people, but he’s another pilot. If anyone asks, he’s giving you a check ride.

Note: Because you are hauling a person, the argument for this charter is reduced by 1, to Strong, if you are a PPL. So, it succeeds on a roll of 3 or higher. Also, the charter’s fees are a bit more complicated: The first leg to 0O5 is at the $5/nm “deadhead” rate and cannot be doubled. The second leg is at the standard single engine rate of $10/nm and may be doubled.

After you make the T&G’s go ahead and land and taxi over to the old BAC hangar. He’ll tell you what you have to do next. Good luck!

It's time for your IFR check ride.

Takeoff from KHAF fly a heading of 53 degrees for 34 nm, this is Turn Point 1.

From Turn Point 1 fly a heading of 306 degrees for 25 nm this is Turning Point 2.

From Turn Point 2 fly a heading of 28 degrees for 41 nm this is your destination.

Remember the headings are "true" and you will have to allow for a westerly wind of 5-10 knots. You will need to plot the flying time between each leg. Write down the prominent landmark or airfield at each Turning point and your final destination. Submit this information to your Supervisor. DO NOT POST IT ON THE FORUM!!! !

If you navigated correctly and got all the Turn Points correct and ended up at the correct airport, then you can deadhead back to San Jose to be promoted to Commercial Pilot by the Boss and get issued your Leatherhombre. Congratulations!

If you messed up somehow, then deadhead back to Half Moon Bay and give it another shot.

Note: You only get paid for the mileage if you successfully complete the check ride. You log the hours for all your attempts, but gain cash only for correctly navigating the ride.

Here's the page where you can roll the die, if you don't have one yourself. Don't you play Yahtzee?
